Are you looking for Keratoconus Los Angeles? Do you live Nearby? Newly diagnosed Keratoconus patients. Sometimes may often feel, like a “dark cloud” is hanging over them. But here at the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute. We will instantly be replaced it with “clear hope-filled skies.” In conclusion, Keratoconus is a degenerative eye disease. That causes thinning and cone-like steepening of the cornea. The distortion of the cornea causes many difficulties in the patient’s everyday life. As a result, this condition of Keratoconus now occurs 1 in 500. Many patients with Keratoconus have difficulty dealing with the symptoms. Treatments like the Holcomb C3-R® and Intacs. Greatly improve the condition and give you a better quality of vision. Yet, in some cases. Holcomb C3-R® and INTACS can be done in combination. And can often slow, stop, and even sometimes reverse. The visual presentation of Keratoconus by flattening the cones. Holcomb C3-R® Crosslinking System. Is A non-invasive treatment that uses a solution which is created with a vitamin called Riboflavin. Furthermore, this procedure requires the use of UV lights at activating the solution over once it is applied. Finally, it takes about 30 minutes and strengthens the corneal fibers. INTACS are tiny inserts that are placed in the cornea. To help reshape it to a more normal shape and reduce distortion.
HOLCOMB C3-R® Cross-Linking
(corneal collagen cross-linking riboflavin). Can strengthen the weak corneal structure and prevent cornea transplants.

First of all, Keratoconus is caused by the imbalance of enzymes within the cornea. This leads to high levels of damaging “reactive species” chemicals. As a result, reactive species include. Hydrogen peroxide, nitric oxide, and superoxides. Therefore, Keratoconus patients are not able to clear away the normal amount. Especially if reactive species are normally produced.
The poor clearance of the good enzymes (Catalase and Superoxide dismutase) are not properly functioning. As a result, the toxic accumulation of the reactive species. And will eventually cause damage in the cornea. Consequently, there are some genetic reasoning that explain why the good enzymes do not properly function. And non-genetic sources also increase the reactive species. Such include ultraviolet light sun exposure, eye rubbing. And also chronic eye irritation and poorly fit contact lenses.
In conclusion, we highly recommend that Keratoconus patients protect their eyes carefully. Always use 100% UV blocking sunglasses with the wrap-around design. The wrap-around style minimizes the amount of light coming in from the sides.
“It seems that both environment and genetics play a role in Keratoconus” – Dr. Brian S. Boxer Wachler, MD.
